CUA - A Globally Engaged University

The Center for Global Education (CGE) at the Catholic University of America (CUA) fosters a sense of international community that builds on the university's strong intellectual and Catholic mission. CGE coordinates and facilitates university-wide global education by sponsoring international exchanges of students and faculty and serving as a resource for departments and schools on campus.

Education Abroad: CUAbroad

The Edcuation Abroad office develops and administers international educational opportunities overseas for CUA and non-CUA students.

Intensive English Program: IEP

IEP is an ESL academic program for undergraduate and graduate students who need to increase their English language proficiency before or after admission to a degree-granting program at CUA.

International Student & Scholar Services: ISSS

ISSS seeks to provide an optimal educational experience for international students, faculty, researchers and other visiting scholars coming to the University.

CUA Rome Center

The CUA Rome Center offers students an introduction to the riches of Rome and its place in the development of Western culture.

 

News and Highlights

The Center for Global Education launches its Brazil Year Initiative. This year-long intiative marks the beginning of a long-term university-wide goal to strengthen and expand academic and cultural ties between CUA and Brazil, as well as between CUA and the rich Brazilian community in our Washington DC area.

Dr. Mario Ortiz visited the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul on May 5th to discuss possibilities of further academic cooperation between the two universities.

The Center for Global Education and International Student and Scholar Services held a special farewell celebration for our graduating international students and departing exchange students on Thursday, April 23.  Students and faculty celebrated the completion of a successful academic year with music, fellowship, and a good old-fashioned BBQ!

Dean Nguyen Establishes Agreements on Visit to Vietnam

Dr. Charles C. Nguyen, Dean of the School of Engineering, visited Vietnam from March 8-20 for the purpose of establishing and renewing academic partnerships between The Catholic University and universities in Vietnam.  He formalized agreements with Can Tho University, Danang University of Science and Technology, and The Ha Noi VNU University of Science.  He also visited several other universities, such as Saigon Technology University, the International University of the Vietnam National University System, and Hochiminh City University of Technology of the Vietnam National University System.

This component of the Fulbright U.S. Student Program is a special opportunity for up to four U.S. students to pursue projects around an aspect of international contemporary or popular music as a cultural force for expression.
